Sustainable energy

In its policy, VION Food Group pays attention to the sustainable use of energy. Firstly, by reducing energy consumption in absolute terms. Secondly, by finding valuable uses for the by-products from operational processes.
Internal monitoring systems aim to optimise energy consumption in the production sites. The reuse and supply of purified water and the use of by-products from biological water treatment plants to generate green electricity are examples of sustainable production processes.

Various activities within the VION Ingredients division are also examples of the development of renewable energy.
The sustainable balance between human beings, society, environment and economy are reflected in various production processes. Either by generating energy ourselves and using it in our own production processes, or by recycling end products as biofuel for our own use or for use by third parties.
Biofuel, for example, is used as green electricity in the Rendac production process or as a sustainable fuel in third party power plants.
The amount of energy supplied annually by VION Ingredients is sufficient to power more than three million 12W low energy light bulbs for one year.
Finally, VION Ingredients' Rendac lorries run on sustainable biodiesel produced at Ecoson using ultramodern technology.
